What an RFI means

An RFI is a request for information from the estimator. It usually means a source detail, photo, date, loss address point, carrier note, or scope item is missing or unclear.

Where RFIs appear

Open RFIs can appear on the contractor dashboard and the Answer RFIs page. The dashboard attention area highlights requests that need contractor action.

Write a useful answer

Answer with the specific fact requested, reference the supporting file or photo when possible, and avoid broad replies such as 'see photos' when the estimator asked for a particular measurement or date.

Best answer format

Lead with the answer, then add the source. Example: 'The inspection date was May 12. Source: inspection notes and photo set IMG_1204 through IMG_1220.'

RFI answer checklist

A useful RFI answer should be narrow enough for the estimator to act on and complete enough that Claim Partner Pro can understand the exchange later.

  • Name the claim fact being corrected or confirmed.
  • Reference the source file, photo range, inspection note, or contractor contact who supplied the answer.
  • Call out uncertainty directly when the answer is partial, pending, or based on a field note instead of a final document.
  • Avoid combining unrelated updates in one RFI answer; update the claim package separately when the claim facts changed.
